JHS Career and Technical Programs Admission Procedure


The PDE approved Career and Technical Education Program has unlimited enrollment and allows all students to participate in classes that are detailed in the scope and sequence in CATS. The school district adds additional sections if warranted by student course selection. 

Recruitment Program

Greater Johnstown High School Career and Technical Education Department consists of (Welding, Building Trades, Collision Repair, Engineering, Cosmetology, P.C. Maintenance, Health Occupations, Culinary Arts, Commercial Art, Allied Health, Childcare). The Greater Johnstown High School Career & Technical Education Department will recruit students and provides equal access by holding an annual open house to parents and students, Career Advisement for thirty minutes weekly that is built into each student schedule, an 8th grade orientation/tour, Career and Work Education and Workforce Development (K-12) and a yearly job fair held at the high school during the school day.  These activities promote our career and technical programming as well as support our goals for the program.  

 

Selection and Placement Procedure

All students who wish to enroll in any of the PDE approved programs are welcomed and counseled by our career and technical counselor on the courses they should select each year to complete the career and technical program of their choice at Greater Johnstown High School. Students who complete 50% of the scope and sequence must take the end of program assessment.
